Cambria Wines Fights Illiteracy
Today’s blog post comes from Katie Jackson of Cambria Estate Winery in Santa Maria, CA. Katie’s family started Cambria in northern Santa Barbara County 1986, and they are very excited to be one of First Book’s partners in promoting literacy this September and October!
Literacy is something that my family has always cared deeply about. We all love to read, and are also deeply passionate about every child having access to a good education. While we’ve held book drives in our Cambria tasting room for the past couple of years to collect books for local charities, this year we wanted to do something more. So we were thrilled when we were able to partner with First Book on a literacy campaign for this fall! First Book’s incredible success in getting new books into the hands of children across the United States is so inspiring, and we know that we’ll be able to do so much more for literacy through our partnership.
This September and October, we’ve committed to raising $20,000 to First Book, and we would love for you to be involved! All you have to do is text the word “FIRSTBOOK” to 20222. This will automatically add $5 to your phone bill, a donation that will help First Book bring new books to children who need them. In select states, donating may also enter you into a weekly giveaway to win an Amazon Kindle Wireless Reader.
We hope that you’ll join us in our efforts to give 10,000 new books to children in need. Every donation will make give First Book another 2 ½ books to give away, and will bring us that much closer to changing thousands of children’ s lives for the better.
