10,000 Miles…10,000 Books…Hundreds of Smiles!
Host of National Geographic’s Amazing Adventures of a Nobody, Leon Logothetis, is somebody who strongly supports First Book’s mission and wants to get books to children in need.
Leon drove the Kindness Cab from London to Mongolia, participating in the Mongol Rally, a 10,000 mile expedition where one book for each mile was donated while on the trek.
The Mongol Rally resulted in 10,000 brand-new books being contributed to schools who serve children in need within the Los Angeles County area. The 10,000 books were divided among ten different schools who each received 1,000 new books.
In commemoration of Leon’s generosity and support, a book distribution took place earlier this week at Kelso Elementary School with local First Book volunteer chapter, First Book-South Bay. At the distribution, 750 students went home with new books and took pictures with the Kindness cab.
Leon continues to advocate for First Book as he recently took on another challenge to get an additional 1,000 books to low-income kids. You can help out with this challenge by nominating a school in the Los Angeles area by posting on Leon’s Facebook page or by sending him a tweet. Be sure to nominate a school by the end of this week as the competition concludes on Friday, September 21st.
