Celebrate Latino Culture … with Free Books!
For children to become strong readers, they need books in their hands that they care about – brand-new, quality books they are excited to read.
And we hear all the time from educators in Latino communities across the country who tell us that they need books that resonate with the children they serve. Not only books with characters, stories and settings that they can relate to, but books that honor the storytelling traditions of multiple generations of Hispanic people in this country.
Free Books!
Thanks to generous support from our friends at Disney, we can help you get these great new libros for your kids … at no cost to you. Sign up with First Book before Feb. 28* and you could get up to $200 worth of books free for your students!
That’s why First Book created The Stories for All Project, our ongoing effort to ensure that children have access to a wide range of books with stories, settings and characters that reflect their own lives. Today we’re taking the next big step as part of that initiative, reaching 30,000 Latino children and connecting them to brand-new books that feature Latino characters, showcase the work of Hispanic authors and illustrators and celebrate the rich storytelling traditions of generations of Latino Americans.
Check out our Latino Culture and Heritage Collection, or choose individual titles that either speak to experiences of the kids you serve or that introduce them to cultures and customs that are new to them. For a wider selection of titles, visit our Latino Interest section, which includes books in Spanish and bilingual (dual-language) books.
* All educators at Title I or Title I eligible schools, and program leaders serving 70% or more of children in need are eligible to sign up. Book collections are available on a first come first served basis, while supplies last.
