A Year-Round Need for Books
Summer is almost here. But that doesn’t mean teachers, program leaders and the kids they serve don’t need books.
Kids need books year-round, and this is especially true in the summer. During the school year, kids rely on their classroom and school libraries for books and other educational resources. But when school lets out, many kids, especially those in low-income communities, are left without the tools they need to keep reading and learning. They may not have books at home. Their community library may be hard to access. And this stands as a barrier to their ability to succeed in school and in life.
Whether it’s the beginning of a summer program, the end of the school year or time to go back to school, one thing is clear – educators and program leaders need books for the kids they serve!
