2018 in Review
As this year draws to an end, First Book Canada is taking a look back at some of our top ten moments of 2018! We’ve had the opportunity to provide books to kids from coast to coast to coast with the help of our dedicated members, partners, and volunteers. We’d like to thank everyone who has supported First Book Canada this year.
MARCH
Pop Up Distribution in Winnipeg, MB supported by TD Bank Group
A big thank you to all our volunteers from Technical Vocational High School who helped us distribute over 40,000 books to kids at RichLu Manufacturing in Winnipeg! We couldn’t have done it without everyone’s support.
2018 Raptors 905 Winter Reading Challenge visit in Mississauga, ON
Sherwood Mills Public School in Mississauga, Ontario had a special visit from our friend Stripes of the Raptors 905 to celebrate the Reading Challenge supported by Compugen Green4Good and Bank of Montreal. First Book Canada and the participating schools are so excited for the 2019 challenge!

Love Child Organics Reading Celebration in Toronto, ON
The joy of a book brings people together! Students from Orde Street Public School had a spectacular time with Hilary Leung and volunteers from Love Child Organics.
Reading Celebration at Centennial School in Saint John, NB
In May, Sheree Fitch visited students at Centennial School in Saint John, New Brunswick for a Reading Celebration. With support from TD Bank Group we were able to give each student a copy of Everybody’s Different on Everybody Street to bring home and share with their family!
Pop Up Book Distribution in Port Alberni, BC
First Book Canada distributed over 10,000 books through a Pop Up Book Distribution in Port Alberni, British Columbia in only 2 days! Thanks to everyone who made this event such a success including our partner TD Bank Group!

CeleBrampton in Brampton, ON
CeleBrampton was a wonderful cultural celebration where First Book Canada distributed books to families and met some young, enthusiastic readers!
AUGUST
Jays Care Rookie League Closing Ceremony in Toronto, ON
We had so much fun at the Jays Care Rookie League where we distributed a wide selection of books to all the kids thanks to the CIBC Children’s Foundation!

SEPTEMBER
Brock Early Learning Centre in Toronto, ON
Officers from the Toronto Police are helping to distribute books to kids in the city. By working together with communities, we can help all kids experience the joy of reading and learning.
Pop Up and National Book Bank in Montreal, QC
Our wonderful Programs Coordinator Rebeca during our Pop Up and National Book Bank Distribution in Montreal. We distributed thousands of books to the kids in Montreal and the surrounding area through the educators and program leaders who picked up books!

Pop Up Book Distribution in Miscouche, PEI supported by Bank of Montreal

NOVEMBER
TD Bank Group Reading Celebration in Edmonton, AB
Grade 1 and 2 students of St. Francis of Assisi School were visited by author Mike Boldt where he shared his book Attack of the 50-Foot Fluffy. Each of the participating students received a brand new copy to take home and keep!
